It was my New Years Resolution to read aloud to all my classes every day. So each day we start out our class with a "read-aloud" for five minutes. Sometimes I read longer if we are at a really good part of the book. The first book we just finished in the past week - The Strange Case of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger. The students were asking for the sequel so we have started Darth Paper Strikes Back by Tom Angleberger this week. Many students have asked if we can have read aloud longer and less independent reading time, so that tells me they are enjoying it. If they don't remember anything else about 6th grade ELA, hopefully they will remember the fun and silly books we read together.
