Last night I started reading a new book and had a hard time putting it down. I've had many students read this book and heard great things about it. Abraham Lincoln's life has always fascinated me. He worked so hard to get where he was and before he had time to celebrate his accomplishments, his life was stolen from him. So far this book has described the events leading up to the night of the assassination including John Wilkes Booth's plans to make President Lincoln's death a certainty. The nonfiction account includes playbills, newspaper articles and other memorabilia from the time. It has been a great read and I am excited to find out more! If you are looking for a great nonfiction read, try this out!

One of my favorite parts of school was receiving book orders from my teachers in elementary and junior high school. I still remember circling all the books I wanted, taking the catalog home and trying to convince my parents to buy the book I had to have. My favorites were The Babysitters Club by Ann M. Martin. There were so many books and I wanted to read them all! I even tried to start my own babysitters club with my friends. All in all, book orders are a happy memory for me from my own school days, so I offer book orders to my students each month in hopes that it will make them smile too. Check out the video below from Scholastic; they do great things for kids, teachers, and parents. Enjoy!
